The Salt Museum
The Salt Museum was opened on September 7, 2002, in the town of Pomorie. He is the only one in Bulgaria and Eastern Europe specialized museum of obtaining salt by solar evaporation of seawater. The museum presents an ancient Anhialo technology for the production of salt. There is an exhibition hall and 20 acres of existing salt pans. Saltpans producing salt in the same way as was done in ancient times. Visitors can see the process and all technological operations.
Church Holy Transfiguration of Our Lord – Pomorie
Church St. Transfiguration of Our Lord in Pomorie is located in the eastern part of the peninsula. The church is Renaissance, is a massive building, built of stone with wooden belts. The iconostasis is made of wood carving, by using different floral motifs. It houses 17 large icons of the royal line and the second line has 33 small Apostolic icons. Under the royal icon of Jesus Christ has a little fountain of water called by the Christians – Tears of Christ.
Museum of History
The archaeological exposition is distributed in several halls. Most of the finds in the Hall “Preistoria” refer to the stone-copper era, they were found in the Kozarev Mound. Most of the objects in the hall “Antiquity” are raised from the seabed, and the Roman and the medieval city of Anhialo is represented by excavations in the area of Paleokastro. A special hall in the museum is dedicated to coins. The most ancient models presented in the hall “Numismatics” from various Greek policies on the coast, coins of Thracian and Macedonian kings. The central place is allocated to bronze coins Anhialo, minted in the Roman era, and medieval Bulgarian coins. On the second floor of the museum, visitors can see the traditional decoration of the city house in Anhialo – a living room and a bedroom and various items. Traditional folk costumes, women’s ornaments of ethnographic groups of the region are presented. The history of Bulgaria from 1878 to the present day is represented in two other departments through rich photos and documents.
